CSC Continues to Scoop up NHL related .tv names with Sharks.tv at $15,000

December 15, 2015 by Raymond Hackney

A few weeks back I wrote:

Devils.tv sold for $10,000 this week and was the top country code sale on Sedo. Way back when in the Dot Tv subforum on Namepros, the NHL teams were discussed as one group now owned by the NHL, at the time the NFL owned the team names in their league, a couple years later they dropped them all and people rushed to buy them all up.

This week the top country code sale was Sharks.tv for $15,000. The Sharks play in San Jose in the NHL and CSC Corporate Domains was the buyer.

A lot of the domains bought do not resolve. Oilers.tv was registered by the team itself in 2013 and is live. Oilers.tv forwards to http://video.oilers.nhl.com/videocenter/

I remember a while back thinking of a few common mascot names not specific to any particular team because certain animals are mascots of various high school, college or pro teams. Perhaps those TV.coms might be worth something.

Does anyone know why GoDaddy stopped selling expired .tv names?
I had that as one of my saved searches and now it always shows “no results”. It’s been like that for a while.

I called Paul Nicks and he said he will take a look why they are not showing.
