One of the things that you have to be in this business is consistent, it is even more important for those with a limited budget or no desire to pay big bucks for the bigger domains. You need to follow a routine that you repeat each day, to check for bargains wherever they may be hiding.
This can be quite boring because you can go days without finding anything. I know for me there are many times I wonder why the hell am I doing this every day ? There has been nothing on this one site for weeks that meets my criteria. When I look back at some sales I have made I realize if I had missed that one day of checking I would not have gotten that sale. Someone else would have gotten that name. I will give a recent example, on Name.com a two letter .tv dropped and was starting the Dutch auction process, so not only consistency but a bit of luck as I happened to be searching when it first hit the expiring list. A two letter .tv dropping with a starting price of $468.99, I know immediately has value and can be sold for a profit. how much is open to a few variables, but no doubt a profit.
If I had not checked Name.com that day I miss the name, because someone else from the .tv community or even another domain investor who recognizes value is going to pick that name up. I thought for a second, “Do I wait 24 hours as this thing will go down to $234.99 ?” I knew it would not be there like the time I looked at TLD.io and thought I can wait a day and let it go down to $51. Someone else picked it up and I read later that they sold it for a nice profit, kudos to them for not waiting.
So even though it can be boring, it is the grunt work you need to do each day, so that when the nugget of gold appears you can jump on it. There are too many miners in the area to skip a day.
People want everything handed to them without any work. Which is why they get scammed. If you don’t put in the work, don’t expect to make the profit, well said Ray.
You read my mail on this one. Nevertheless, I keep searching high and low, day in and day out. It’s actually encouraging that I’m not the only one that has the same thought occur here and there throughout his journey. Thanks for sharing…
