Over the last few months there has been an uptick in the prices of 4L.net domain names without the letters a,e,i,o,u,v. These names were starting to get regged immediately when they dropped and then there was a buy out of the remaining names. This was posted on Namepros back on July 27 by Dot Cn.
Since then several members started picking up everything they could find on Go Daddy closeouts, Dynadot and Name.com. For a month now we have had no 4L.net make it to Go Daddy closeouts and they all have been going for a minimum of $22 plus renewal fee. People have started to buy on Namepros as well as some members have been making sales in the $45 to $100 range.
There is some new research out on BuildACode.com. Martin Kellerman has done some nice work analyzing all things 4L.net.
From the article:
LLLL.net domains are popular in China following the meteoric rise in value of their 4-letter .com cousins. Now 4 letter .com domains containing only Chinese premium letters normally sell for at least $1000 with other 4 letter.com domains selling for at least about $150. Recently 4 letter .net domains containing only Chinese premium letters (any letter except for A, E, I, O, U or V) have been selling for around $45 each. All such domains have now been registered and are hard to drop catch. Now domainers are focusing on other .net domains including 4 letter .nets containing only US premium characters (all letter except J, K, U, V, W, X, Y or Z) and on domains that contain 3 Chinese premium letters and one other letter.
In order to understand the current situation of LLLL.net domain availability, I carried out a scan of all the over 400,000 LLLL.net domains. I wanted to know what has changed since the previous scan I did on 5 October and what people have been registering since then.
On 5 October, as of the previous scan I did, 143000 LLLL.nets were available. As of today, 14 October, 131000 LLLL.nets were available. This is a reduction of over 1200 per day. This suggests that all LLLL.nets will be registered by end January. There are no domains with all Chinese premium letters. There are 5694 domains with all US premium letters.
