Shelly.com closes at $16,000 on Namepros – Will The Sale Get Closed ?

August 31, 2015 by Raymond Hackney

Shelly.com closed at $16,000 on Namepros, there has been some controversy around this auction as it is a brokered auction. Many comments have been deleted to keep the auction on track. Eric Lyon did verify with the current owner that the broker had the right to sell the name.

Another member Keith, pointed out that the whois info had changed and wanted to hear back from the previous owner.

Just a quick heads up. The Whois for Shelly.com and fantasize.com were changed in the last few months. Both domains were registered to gliske@usa.com with real phone numbers. Both domains got updated Whois emails with fake phone numbers.

I emailed the owner from a few months back. Please do NOT pay for these domains until Grant responds. Something is just not right here!

We will see if this goes through as there are not many five figure sales on Namepros.

Hopefully everything goes smoothly on this one.

    The issue isn’t whether the current whois respondant says the name is for sale. The issue is whether it was stolen when the whois info changed a few months ago. I believe it was stolen from an absentee owner who isn’t paying attention. The problem with buying a stolen domain is you are flat out the money with little recourse if the thief (and seller) are in a part of the world where it’s difficult to prosecute this type of fraud. Even then, you’re never likely to see the money again.

      That is why I posted what Keith wrote since it is not visible on the post anymore.

    Something is up with all the whois changes, address is 123, phone number is 1212, fishy

    Now you have unveiled with this post, the auction doesn’t seem very transparent.

    With the owner of np stating in the thread as you stated;
    “The WHOIS registrant of Shelly.com has verified that @Sharjil has the right to sell this domain name on NamePros.

    This auction will end 72 hours after the last bid.”

    But why were some comments deleted? Re whois etc.

    It’s also showing as on auction at Sedo with a $10k reserve.
