4.CN booked its 4th largest auction close ever this past week, Ming Shi sold for 891,000 RMB that works out to $143,451. According to Wikipedia:
The History of Ming (Chinese: 明史; Pinyin: Míng Shǐ) is one of the official Chinese historical works known as the Twenty-Four Histories of China. It consists of 332 volumes and covers the history of the Ming Dynasty from 1368 to 1644. It was written by a number of officials commissioned by the court of Qing Dynasty, with Zhang Tingyu as the lead editor. The compilation started in the era of Shunzhi Emperor and completed in 1739 in the era of Qianlong Emperor, though most of the volumes were written in the era of Kangxi Emperor.

Let’s look at what the seller said about the meaning and use of MingShi.com:
mingshi.com这个域名具备“名师”、“明师”、“名仕”等含义，针对教育类企业有重要的战略意义。
This means MingShi can refer to 名师(famous teacher), 明师(wise teacher), or 名仕(symbol of nobility, honor, status, identity). The seller was recommending use of this domain name for educational purpose.
BTW, Mingshi.cn is a shoe maker with two retail stores in China as well as a design center in London. Mingshi.com.cn imports construction products from the US.

There’s another meaning for Mingshi,
Good teacher.
There are some gems out there still. These type of domains are still out there.
