TLD Registry (DotChinese Online and Dot Chinese Website) continues to unveil more of their plans for NamesCon. For those truly interested in the Chinese market from a new gtld standpoint this does look like they are putting in the effort to truly educate potential registrants. The new gtlds from a domain investor/trader standpoint certainly hold a higher degree of risk than established extensions such as .com/co.uk/.de etc…
A sponsored panel entitled “Doing Domain Business in China,” immediately followed by a boxed lunch coupled with a laid-back “Top 10 FAQ’s to Chinese Domaining” session. The panel will take place on Monday, January 12 from 11:50am – 12:50pm in the Verisign Ballroom.
That panel will focus specifically on doing domain business in China, which goes hand-in-hand with the Chinese Domaining Masterclass, except that attendees will have the opportunity to hear from industry experts speak on the subject in addition to the TLD Registry executive team. The panel currently has five chairs, with influential and respected industry experts Michael Cyger (Domain Sherpa), Alex Lee (Huyi), Edmon Chung (Dot Asia), and TLD Registry’s own Simon Cousins and Jin Wang leading the discussion.
Many investors read about a greater Chinese presence in the domain market, and that has been primarily in .com with numerics leading the way. So it is natural that investors, especially newer domain investors look for the next thing. It is important to get as much information as possible before jumping in, especially if you don’t speak the language. TLD Registry is doing what I think more new registries should be doing and providing the mechanism for greater learning about what is going on with their strings.
