On September 13, I wrote an article regarding the domain name Sitcom.tv. At the time of the article, it had just come back on the market, as the previous owner did not renew it. Sitcom.tv was priced at $19,687.50 on Name.com for $16,540.00 at Enom. The big question was, would someone pay that much in the primary market?
Well we now have the answer and it is a resounding YES! In addition, it didn’t take long for Sitcom.tv to find a new home. It was purchased less than two weeks after my last article was published! The domain was registered at DomainContext not one of the usual .tv players. The registrar has an address in Wilmington, Delaware and has an affiliate registrar in Russia. The domain is under privacy.
This is a very meaningful event. It further supports the growth and acceptance of the .TV extension. It arguably might be the highest price paid for a hand registered domain name, period!
I congratulate the buyer of Sitcom.tv and look forward to seeing what they intend to do with the domain name.

Makes me feel good about my VN.TV
That’s a nice name.
That’s a very nice 2 letter acronym Tony, no pun intended (VN – Very Nice). Two letter acronyms are always extremely desirable. I have sold two, two letter TVs, MM.tv and QA.tv.
Good luck with VN.tv!
I,m the owner of Europea.tv and is for sale.
Nice name Arthur. Is that Italian for European?
Spanish
I remember that Sports.tv was hand-registered for something like 49K
Thank you for your comment Donnie.
I think that Sports.tv was sold on auction at Sedo for $54,000. It was later sold to Entertainment Studios, Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
Claude, I think you´re wrong. Early 2011 Sports.tv was registered for $49,050. It was picked up on the drop. Prior to its drop it was a $100k/year renewal owned by Sheeraz Hasan.

Yes I wrote about it back

No idea how I ended up here but Sitcom.TV is available to be registered as of now so this story is false.
Actually when Claude wrote the article it was very much true, the registrant regged the domain at DomainContext.com and put it under privacy. The only problem is DomainContext does not offer premium .tv, so the glitch allowed it to be registered. Unlike when I believe DirectNic did this the name was not found out right away, the other example everyone and their Mother told others about it, Verisign immediately cancelled all those registrations. As this was a one off Verisign did not get this registration revoked for over six weeks.
That explains whois mess when looking at who.is !
Thanks for replying. I didn’t mean to imply the story itself was false but just that the fact the name is registered is false. From what I can see Claude seems to be fairly trustworthy as a source of information in the .tv space.
