Verisign To Allow Premium .TV Transfers effective July 29

June 12, 2014 by Raymond Hackney

Verisign is a funny company, so Gorilla Bob on Namepros gets the credit for this breaking news about .tv premium registrations.

Hello,

Wanted to be the first to let you know.

Coming soon, your Premium .tv domain names will be transferable to other premium .tv registars.

That’s right you heard it first from Gorilla_Bob!

Bob

After Gorilla Bob posted that on Namepros, I call Verisign, I speak to a lady named Kat, I ask her for verification, she cannot say anything and says I would not run with anything until we tell the registrars, we will certainly tell them if the policy changes.

So I then call back get a person named Simon, he seemed to know what I was talking about but stuck to the no official word yet. He said there were changes coming to .TV and I asked when ? He said he would guess an announcement coming next month.

So I get off the phone and Ammar from Legacy Fund posted on Namepros:

Thank you for contacting Verisign Support.
That is correct, all premium .tv domain name will be able to be transfer. This will be in effect July 29, 2014.

You may receive a Customer Satisfaction Survey after this case has been closed. We value your feedback and appreciate your input on our products and services.

If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best Regards,

So the email route got the answer and talking to live people had a bit of confusion.

Understand these are not for legacy premiums but just the premium names that came into play March 18,2010 when Verisign changed their pricing model.

***Update*** Ammar got another email that makes it look like this will be ok to move legacy premiums.

This change will affect all .tv Premium domain names currently registered regardless of which Registrar account they reside.

Now you will still have to move to a Premium .tv registrar, for example Go Daddy is not one of them.
