One excellent expired domain name auction result that I have not seen mentioned anywhere was for manganese.com which closed at $12,050 at snapnames on 09-Feb.
Manganese.com was formerly owned by Manganese Bronze Holdings plc, a UK-based company formed in 1899 and which manufactured London black taxicabs.
In 2012 the firm entered administration and its assets were purchased by Chinese automotive company Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd, which obviously didn’t realise the value of one of their domain assets and let it expire.
