Ophelie Lechat leaving Flippa
The Montreal native who found her way to Melbourne,Australia will be leaving Flippa as the marketing lead, and moving to parent company SitePoint.
Lechat joined Flippa in November of 2011 and really transformed the Flippa blog into an incredible resource with engaging content on a daily basis. Flippa has not always been seen as a place for domain selling and did not gain any favor in the domaining community when Andrew Knibbe guest posted on John Chow that "Domain Investing Was Dead"
That article was published a few weeks after Lechat was hired, in the subsequent 21 months Ophelie reached out and made strides imo to make Flippa a more friendly platform toward domainers. She was always learning about what domains sold and why. She was very quick to answer questions through email and Twitter about domain only auctions and how best to use Flippa as a platform for domain only sales.
I interviewed Ophelie in August of this year and focused solely on domain auctions, like what were the 5 biggest domain only sales on Flippa ?
Flippa has big shoes to fill.
I am sure she will do great things at Sitepoint and even bigger things down the road.
Everyone here at Hybrid Domainer wishes her all the best.
Sweet article 🙂
I only found out about Ophelie from following you on Twitter so thanks for the introduction. I found her to be very smart and professional.
Ophelie is a great writer, I have enjoyed the Flippa material posted to my inbox and you’re right Raymond, there will be a void, but I’m sure there is another perspective chopping at the bit. Time, as always will tell. Cheers Howie.
PS. How lucky of you to interview her 🙂
I also found Ophelie through twttr. She is a very good writer and like her stuff.
I am not sure many in domaining knew her until Name.com and you interviewed her.
Being a Canadian its great to see a fellow country woman do our country proud. All the best.
Thanks for the comments, everyone! It’s been a wonderful run here at Flippa, but I’m looking forward to lending a hand at SitePoint.com.
