OrderFlowers.com Renewed. Eric Borgos was the buyer

July 29, 2013 by Raymond Hackney

By: Raymond Hackney

Eric Borgos was going to be the new owner of OrderFlowers.com, thanks for the tip from Todd Finlay. I contacted Eric and he told me that Go Daddy just told him it was renewed and he would be refunded his $34,500.

For years Eric has owned GetFlowers.com and he details how he bought a flower shop back in a 2009 post.

The site is back up looking like its last screenshot.

    Next question is to ask him if he will seek out the registrant and buy the name direct. With this post I am sure the registrant is already seeking out Eric anyway.
    Godaddy does need to come up with some solution to this problem though because paying 35 grand for a name and then having to wait for a refund that probably will take a few weeks is ridiculous.

    Refund takes 3 days, and that is the name of the game, auctions are a chance business, buckle up Toddy.

    I’ve had approximately 30 domains in the past 2 months that were purchased at GD Auctions that were renewed by their previous owners. I know going into it that it may happen but even so, it is a bummer when it does.
    As far as the timeframe for receiving a refund they all averaged between 3-5 business days which isn’t bad.

    If you pay on the first day you win the auction and they end up registering the name again it can take as long as 11 days. At least thats the longest for me so far. I think the higher the domain price the longer they hold your money. To stay in control of my money longer I wait until the last possible day which is normally day 3 to pay for the auction. Just in case they renew it won’t take as long to get my money back.

    I really think that Go Daddy needs to rethink its auction policy.
    What other business sells property it doesn’t yet own, and if the owner doesn’t claim it, then pockets the entire sales price?
    In most businesses, the owner would go to jail for such skulduggery.
    🙁

    @rj
    I don’t think this is owned by pro flowers because why would they sell it to a competitor and I doubt they would play the auction game or even know how to play the auction game and renew at the last minute. Thats not something that companies like this do.
