Offers From Parking Pages – Sometimes you just have to laugh

June 17, 2013 by Raymond Hackney

By: Raymond Hackney

When you park domains and people click the "This Domain may be for sale" link, it opens a door to a bunch of crazy comments. Some are just out right hysterical.

I was getting more offers over the last two months than I had gotten over the past 8 months combined, so I was like cool, but most were an exercise in comedy rather than in business.

Lydoo.com 3 offers

Offer 1, I got an offer on Lydoo.com parked at Voodoo. The offer was all in Chinese, I first just thought it was spam, but I noticed the lydoo.com in the sea of text that I did not understand.  So I went and used Google Translate and it did a better job than I thought it would for Chinese translation.

I reply and ask if they are interested in the domain ? They reply yes and then we went to crazy town, I just kept getting page long texts all in Chinese that were love poems to the senders girlfriend and then an ad about their business.

Offer 2 Hello we want this name $500, I counter $2,888. They come back we a small shop this would bankrupt us. I said, "It would bankrupt you ?" I did some research and knew they were not a small company. They then told me they could get Lydoo.com.cn for $240 and in China they are the same, if I could come down to around that he was sure they would pick my domain. I said you want me to take half of your initial offer ? crickets.

Offer 3 Me want domain. That is the exact email, I was said how much would you like to pay for it ? A friend suggested to send back " Me want $5,000"  but of course I did not. He gets back and asks me if I would want to trade for livestock ? At this point with him in China and me in the US, I thought that would be a difficult transaction.

MusicNews.tv 1 offer

I want this name to start an online music site, you want in ? I felt like it was Harland Williams in There's Something About Mary, asking Ben Stiller if he wanted in on Seven Minute Abs. I got back to him that the domain was for sale and that he could make an offer.  He replies, oh no I have no money, I wanted you to put up the name to partner with me on the website.

Nikita.tv 2 offers

offer one, How much you want for my domain ? I replied your domain ? They said well its my first name so I think of it as my domain. I thought well I need to get ahold of the owner of Ray.com let them know its mine. I replied its my domain actually and its for sale. They replied they could purchase it in the Spring of 2014.

offer two, I love your TV show.

HollandAirlines.com 1 offer

HollandAirlines.com i am in China. i just want to check the time of Kl air flights, and book kl air flights for customers.

DefineFashion.com 2 offers that are funny 6 offers in total over the last six months.

offer one, I want this domain, how do you get it to me ? I replied you have to pay for the domain, feel free to make an offer. He replies, No, I want the domain you give it to me. I replied why would I give it to you ? He replies, Because I am an upcoming designer and it will look good on your resume. I am not sure where I put this on my resume.

offer two I would like to purchase this name and I have a brand new litter of puppies with which I would like to trade one. I did not reply to this offer.

Pengoo.com offer: How Much ? My reply $500. His reply I am in China how is fifty cents ?

Those were just some of the funny replies, feel free to list some of your funny offers in the comments.

People just assume a domain name has no value, that’s the problem. Or they’re just being extra smart and trying their luck in getting it for free. If only I had a dollar for every mail asking for a domain to be transferred because it was not being used yet…
