In the last sales report put out by Afternic ahhhhhhh.com sold for $7500. The typical outlier, Holy Cow, How did they sell that for that ?
It made me wonder how can someone spend that kind of money and take the chance that someone does not see all the h's and puts a with 6 h's or 8 h's.
Well after doing the research it seems that a with an h following it is regged to the max. From Ah to Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Yep that's 62 h's a url maxes out at 63 characters.
a with 30 h to a 62 h the max were regged on Nov 12,2012 CSC Corporate Domains is the registrant for all of them.
The registrant for the $7500 sale is King and Spalding one of the largest international law firms in the world. They are also registrant on about a dozen other combos. The other registrant is Wieden and Kennedy, an independently owned American advertising agency best known for its work for Nike. Founded by Dan Wieden and David Kennedy, and headquartered in Portland, Oregon, it is one of the largest independently-owned advertising agencies in the world. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)
So it will be interesting to see what is the idea behind this. Some of the names are parked and that may just be they acquired privately and never changed the nameservers.
So someone got lucky and owned Ahhhhhhh.com and got a nice price for a reg fee name.
That was really cool, thx for providing the back story, this is what I like reading about.
Love Dan Weiden! Just do it!!’
