Too Much Supply
Many times we hear how apps will replace domains or bring the value of domains down. Its not like just having an app is enough and having a domain to help promote that app is more important than ever in my opinion.
Like an overabundance of .com registrations or an overabundance of new tlds on the way, there is an overabundance of apps being uploaded every month.
AppTerrier put out a piece showing just how much apps are a lot like domains from a standpoint of selling and making a living.
In a piece entitled, "Disparity of App Store Wealth and Activity" The piece shows that apps are being uploaded in big numbers monthly just the same way we might see domain registrations. The report shows that 6 out of 10 apps are never downloaded. That sounds familiar with how domainers look at certain extensions and believe many have never heard of the extension.
Apps need to start using a domain strategy and promote their apps the same way domainers promote their domains. If you just want to upload to the App Store, then you need to have a big advertising budget.
App developers and domainers can learn a lot from one another to help them attain their goals.
Thanks for sharing and excellent analysis
