.XXX is underway and under Sunrise B, any non-adult trademark holders that want to block their trademark from being registered in .xxx can do that by paying a fee.
But ICM is blocking or reserving some celebrity names. Go to http://www.icmregistry.com/whois
You can check to see if a name is “reserved” by ICM. It seems this is new policy on the celebrity .xxx. Maybe they read our article (probably not )
So Beyonce does not have to worry about paying to block her name. Brandy does as its not reserved.
Some sports celebrities like Jennie Finch and Hope Solo are not on the reserved list. But two of the most famous pornstars of all time are reserved. Tera Patrick and Jenna Jameson.
On the men’s side, Brad Pitt is reserved, Ryan Reynolds is not.
So it does seem like ICM is smart enough and has the ability for a reserved list. So why then does a company like Coke have to pay to block their name ? They even reserved 71 year old sex symbol Raquel Welch
Interesting story, thanks mate. My I do love Raquel Welch. I am old.
Very Intriguing, and seems quite unfair of them.
Another great observation Ray.
I dont think there is any possibility of blocking each and every celeb and/or tm-ed term no matter how hard they tried.
I wonder if the amount of .xxx advertising dollars will surpass the crazy amount of advertising dollars that the dot co registry just spent…
