There is always that thread that starts will little substantiation but looks to be controversial. So someone started a thread on Namepros stating that the domain market is manipulated just like gold, stocks, housing, etc…
When someone asked if they cared to substantiate with facts? The op simply stated no. Later in the thread they wondered why Zoom did not purchase Zoom.com until Media Options owned it? Why did Universal.com just sell?
They also made some uninformed statement as to why Schilling, Ye and Ham sold.
I rely on my own observations and experience.
Also, I think Schilling, Ham and Yee sold out because they were not generating any end user sales.
The only inquiries they got, all in all, were inquiries from dominers, who wanted to buy a traffic domain and park it.
Why would Schilling sell out if he was sufficiently profitable? Or Ham? Or Yee?
Anyone who has real observations of this industry knows that Frank and Kevin received several end user inquiries and made several end user sales.
The OP did state it was their opinion, take it or leave it.
Brad Mugford said he would leave it.
I’ll leave it.
Every field has some % of bad actors, frauds, snake oil salesmen, charlatans, etc.
I don’t think that is unique to the domain world.
The thing about making such a general statement without any intimate details about transactions makes you look uninformed. Of course there are millions who subscribe to the theory that everything is a conspiracy, everything is a scam. But when you make statements you need to have something to substantiate it. For example, you have to know Frank Schilling personally and his business to state you know why he sold.
You can read the whole thread on Namepros.

The thread starters post are a classic case of projection,
“Also, I think Schilling, Ham and Yee sold out because they were not generating any end user sales.”
The translation of that is that Magul is not generating enduser sales despite 20 years in the business, he is defending his ego by saying others aren’t doing well rather than being willing to admit he doesn’t know what he is doing.

All I see is jealousy .If you hold what end users need, you will continue to generate sales .I don’t see why the thread was started. Bitter people who have been in the game for a long time, and are not focused will never hit it big in this business.
You can clearly see the growth of those who have been in this business .Most have solid portfolio they built over time while the others are busy doing it the wrong way and they never succeed.
Spend your time reading and researching .Even new entrants are making it big and those who are patient are being rewarded as demands for names increases .I usually just ignore threads like that as I see bitterness and negativity been instilled in the minds of new domainers who are stuck with crappy names, while those in the game who have taken the time to buy wisely ,are constantly making sales.
Stay positive read and research you have a brain like every other domain investors ,use your brain and don’t be jealous and bitter OP. I only laughed as I knew it was another bitter and jealous thread starter .

There is a lot of covert manipulation in all markets, in a market like ours that is speculative, the manipulations must be greater.
Better not know them.
There are many vested interests. We read it in the financial news, the economy, the stock market has always been like this and whoever writes the opposite does not have their feet on the ground, they are in the cloud (This short phrase was pronounced to people before)
Ronald Smith says
Right if someone does not agree with your conspiracy theories their feet are not grounded, please you sound pathetic. Vested interests do not equal manipulation. I know the tin hat crowd can’t handle this.
