Things are heating up in what I like to call the marketplace wars. I think the last 4 months of 2024 and 2025 are going to bring about a lot of new developments and opportunities.
Darpan Munjal of Atom announced that on September 2 Atom will launch a commission match guarantee for premium domains. Atom will pay sellers 10% of the Atom BIN price (up to $300) if their domain ends up selling outside our platform on one of the Approved Selling Platforms.
There are terms, they include:
Terms & Eligibility
In order to be eligible for the Commission Match Guarantee, you must meet the following criteria.
- Sellers who have reached Silver, Gold, or Platinum status by maintaining 50+ premium listings are eligible.
- Your account must be in good standing (with no unresolved violations within the previous 90 days).
- You must opt-in to the Commission Match Guarantee through the Marketplace settings section on your dashboard and agree to the full terms. If you were previously using Atom’s Reduced Commission Benefit, you will no longer be eligible for it, as only one benefit can be active at a time.
- The benefits will be activated once you opt into the program and will apply to any sales made after September 2, 2024. If you opt in after this date, the benefits will become active 48 hours later and will cover any sales occurring 48 hours after your opt-in time.
- Only BIN priced, outright sales are eligible. The BIN price on the Approved Selling Platform needs to be at least 10% higher than the price you’ve set on Atom.com for the last 30 days.
- The sale must occur on an Approved Selling Platform in accordance with Terms outlined in our Partial Exclusivity Benefits. Please make sure you are logged in to review the Terms.
Introducing the Commission Match Guarantee
Starting September 2, 2024, we’re launching the Commission Match Guarantee for premium domains. With this program, Atom will pay sellers 10% of the Atom BIN price (up to $300) if their domain ends up selling outside our platform on one of the Approved Selling Platforms. This initiative is designed to offset the additional commission costs you might incur elsewhere, giving you the freedom to list your domains on Atom while ensuring that you are able to list the domains across all major registrars.
This may seem counter-intuitive, especially considering that in the past, we charged a commission for off-platform sales. But now, we’re flipping the script and absorbing the risk ourselves because we strongly believe that the increased exposure on our platform can help accelerate sales for most domains.

What Atom does not specify is whether the sale of the domain also includes the commission guarantee for pay in installments (in Atom the minimum is $100 and in Afternic it is $495 as an example.)
