For those who are running blogs as a part of their online business some news came out today with regards to comments.
Matt Southern over at SearchEngineJournal.com published a piece a couple of hours ago with regard to comment removal and search rankings.
John Mueller from Google answered a question in a Hangout.
The participant wants to remove comments from their site and asked if that can be done without losing rankings.
The short answers are:
- Yes, Google factors comments into the ranking of web pages.
- No, it’s unlikely comments can be removed from a site without impacting its rankings.
Mueller gives details into how Google views comments and how sometimes they can be valuable to what a searcher is looking for.
