There is a .realty registration frenzy going on currently. Epik has worked out a promotion with the .realty registry.
Now for the first year the domain names are .99 but the renewal is $299. The discussion is lively over at Namepros with those understanding this regging spree for what it is.
Register and outbound, get it sold in the first year. Now I personally believe any outbound marketing efforts must mention the $299 renewal.
Rob Monster said: “The math definitely worked on .VC and I believe it will work on .REALTY. Someone buys 100 .REALTY domains for $99, and sells 1 domain for $99 or better and the rest is upside for the rest of the year. However, if you are not prepared to outbound or SEO, please do NOT register ANY. Thank you.”
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
These types of promotions always come down to whether the effort is worth the reward? For many they will register 100 names for $100 and then get to work selling names.
You have to know what you are doing when it comes to outbound, do not violate the Can-Spam Act for one thing.
The end user is another salesperson, realtors, at least the good ones are pretty keen to all kinds of sales tactics. That’s why I think making clear the renewal is not that what you would find in a .com is important.
I do think it’s an interesting exercise, to see who can properly execute a profitable sales strategy. Others will be dropping them in one year, triple checking that auto renew was not selected for any .realty domains.
Disclaimer: I own zero and will never own a .realty domain name, nothing against it, just not my cup of tea. I have no advertising relationship with Epik or the .realty registry.
Complete waste of time and money.
Totally agree
