Last week there was big news in the world of new gtld sales, Test.Center was reported sold at $195,000.
Elliot Silver had tweeted that he contacted Sedo and they could not confirm the sale yet. Namebio removed the sale from their database waiting for confirmation.
Sedo posted on Namepros today:
Hope everyone’s week is already off to a great start. We just wanted to follow up on the thread here as promised regarding Test.Center.
We have had to cancel the transfer of this to the buyer involved. No completed sale at this time but it’s a domain with a lot of potential so it will interesting to see who ends up with it down the road.

We’ve seen this pattern too many times, it seems: Someone reports on a ‘big’ sale…then we shortly thereafter discover that the buyer pulls out at the last minute. I can’t help but wonder whether when the buyers read these blog posts about the sale (which they likely do, thanks to Google Alerts), they have second thoughts because all the domainers express what a “great sale” this was, or even question why anyone would pay that amount.

Please, there was never any “buyer”. Desperate new tld sellers.

Snoopy, you’re being negative again assuming the worst.
They definitely shouldn’t have said anything about the sale until $ were in, that’s for sure.
I remember when Rick Schwartz bought flowers.mobi for $200k and many people said it was a fake sale. He set the record straight, confirmed the sale and said there were absolutely no kickbacks – not even a dinner! His words:

Not only do registries jinx the deal but they also risk the reputation of the TLD… plus the price gets out there which affects negotiations later.

This is not news when a domain of a limited extension is supposedly sold. Other than possibly being fake news this extension is not even global ….. center is a flawed extension due to the fact it is not Global. British/English spelling is centre. As with Theater and Theatre. In languages based on British English language Center means the middle. So the moral of the story is, if you are going to possibly spend big money on a new Gtld make sure it passes the “Global Spelling Test” ….. Example Dot Fun. Same spelling worldwide. Would I reg a .fun? …… Hell no!
