I decided it was time to find out what a portmanteau domain is…
“A portmanteau is when you take two words and smash them together to create a new word. Bionic for example is a portmanteau of biological and electronic.”
seopressor.com
“Merged Portmanteau – also known as blending or meshing words is the most popular way of creating highly brandable names.”
namemesh.com
“Portmanteaus are blends of different words. This algorithm finds words that overlap with the keyword in pronounciation. One example result for the keyword domain would be ‘domainiac’, a blend of the words ‘domain’ and ‘maniac’.”
namesmith.io
[NameSmith makes a distinction between phonetic blends and written blends – “instead of overlapping in pronounciation they overlap in writing”.]

Are they reaching end users or IT people and folks in the industry? Some of the prices seem low for even the better names. If your going to hold it, hold out. The ad value of a good name is priceless.
