People sometimes grow to have great affection for certain domains in their portfolio. These names seem to have greater sentimental value than they do monetary value. There is nothing wrong in having names that resonate with you, it may be the name of a family member or your favorite phrase.
When looking to sell these names one must extrapolate the sentimental value and focus on the monetary value. Over the years brokering names for people there have been times when someone gave one of the following lines:
"This name probably means more to me than anyone else on the planet"
"No one understands the value of this name like I do"
"I am the world's foremost expert on the topic"
All of the above statements made may very well be true, and that makes for a more difficult time trying to sell those domains. If you know that you value something more than anyone else on a planet of 7 billion, then you are the end user. Selling the name will probably only lead to regret unless you are in desperate need for the money.
You need to think about why you own domains and act accordingly, whichever reason you choose to own a domain is fine and is your own prerogative but know that sometimes you may already have found the end user when you think about selling.
