Women in Domaining (Part 5)
Today we have the Sedo 7, Sedo is certainly one of the largest players in the domain industry. They provide parking, escrow and brokerage services to domain investors around the world.
Liesbeth Mack-de Boer, Chief Sales Officer
My name is Liesbeth Mack-de Boer and I have been in the domain business working for Sedo since 2005 when I joined the Sedo management team and took over the sales teams from Tim Schumacher. In my role as a CSO I have the opportunity to work across borders with clients from the primary and the secondary market as well as worldwide. I love communicating with clients from over 150 countries with their own business cultures, listening to their specific needs for their TLDs and markets. The domain community is as diverse as the world is, which makes it fascinating to be a part of.
Kristen Reilly, Sales Consultant – North America
My name is Kristen Reilly and I am a seasoned sales veteran, who has worked in advertising sales for over 10 years at top companies such as Clear Channel and The New York Times. I am currently a Sales Consultant/Broker at Sedo.com, charged with the responsibility of brokering domain names and websites, SEO/SEM, driving new business, fostering client loyalty and satisfaction. Throughout the past year, I have made my mark in the domain name industry through my ability to foster strategic sales with a professional yet personal approach. During this journey, I have had the opportunity to learn from some of most intelligent, power playing women in the industry, both inside and outside of Sedo. This has made for a unique and exciting experience as a woman in the high tech and internet field. For me, it is the challenge of being a shaper of an industry that makes the success all worth the while.
Lianne van Hoorn, Senior Regional Manager – BeNeLux/Account Manager – Scandinavia
I started working for Sedo and in the domain industry when I moved from The Netherlands to Germany. At Sedo, I am responsible for the Dutch-speaking market (basically the Netherlands and Belgium). The Dutch market is already a strong, very active one, and I expect it to grow more in the future, so I am working to develop it. I am also an account manager for our Scandinavian clients. The role of a country or regional manager is one of the most diverse positions at Sedo – I am in daily contact with clients, registrars, and other business partners. I am a broker for the Dutch market, and I make sure Sedo regularly pops up in the Dutch press. Next to that, I am always looking for new ways to improve the market. Any questions about .nl domains? Contact me!
Simonetta Batteiger, Senior Product Manager – Registrar Channel
I work as a Senior Product Manager for Registrar Customer products at Sedo. My main focus is to continue building distribution for domain names through our SedoMLS partner network. Since joining Sedo, I have held a number of positions ranging from Finance to Parking Sales to managing the US account management team, and finally focusing on Sedo’s B2B channel products in partnership with our registrar and registry customers. I also work with ICANN on changes to their domain name transfer policies. Since I joined Sedo six years ago, it’s been exciting to learn about the domain industry and to work with an amazing team of smart people at Sedo as well with our partners. There still is a lot of untapped opportunity in the domain name industry, and new developments like the new gTLD program will add new revenue opportunities for everyone. It’s great to see that a lot more women have joined the space, one indication of how this industry has grown up from a somewhat geeky niche involving mostly speculators into a much more mainstream online marketing solution. Who does not need a great name for their online presence?
Negar Hajikhani, Sales Executive – North America
My name is Negar Hajikhani and I’m a sales executive for Sedo. I came out of business school in Germany wanting to work in the fashion industry. I loved the thought of working in a fast paced, international business setting where my day to day work touches people all over the world. Well, on my way I stumbled into the domain industry and it has proven every bit as interesting a career as I’d envisioned for myself. I have clients and colleagues the world over. In the same day, I will negotiate a price in Mandarin, close a deal in German and discuss traffic monetization in English. Since I started working for Sedo I’ve been in the middle of million dollar sales and helped acquire and sell internationally recognized online brands. Looking back, I have to wonder what other industry I could do that in. Perhaps fashion, but the domain industry has its own interesting style and I’m more than excited to be part of it.
Ana-Paula Vazquez Cisneros, Regional Manager – Latin America
My name is Ana Paula Vázquez Cisneros and I am Regional Manager for Latin America in the sales department of Sedo’s Cologne office. My role as regional manager is very interesting since it requires a lot of interaction not only with customers but also with a wide range of internet-related individuals and organizations, as well as different departments within Sedo. Besides the daily handling of parking and sales-related issues for Latin American clients, especially SedoPros, I am involved in marketing and business development activities focused on growing my market and Sedo’s presence in the region. This challenging market includes 20 countries with very different stages of market development, and I am proud of being part of the Latin American market growth, with Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina leading this boom
Kathy Nielsen, Director, Strategic Alliances
I’ve been with Sedo for almost 5 years. I love the international nature of this industry and the many different stories and business models out there about how people build their properties. I joined Sedo after working for over 7 years in e-content and e-commerce, helping build the content and monetization aspects of websites. I enjoy learning the client’s goals, and helping them create a plan to reach those goals through Sedo’s robust product offering. My focus today is on the new gTLD space and preparing Sedo’s products so that we will be able to best service the new internet landscape in the future.
Group hug, ladies…this was a great series, Thanks Ray!
