It seems that people realized that their domains listed on Go Daddy auctions were showing in the registration path. Now there is no instant transfer with auctions like their is with premium listings.
Many still see the difference in commission to be worth the extra work. Premium listings have a 30% commission and when Andrew wrote this piece on May 12, auctions were 5 %. It now looks to be 15 % for auction commissions.
Guess Go Daddy noticed the increase in people listing their names for sale on auction. Another nice part about auctions is that you can list domains not with Go Daddy.
