Taking a look at the final stats for 2017, it really was a terrible year for non coms. Only 11 non coms were in the top 100 sales reported by DN Journal. Only 2 of those names were new gtlds and domain investors reaped no benefit as the registries sold Casino.Online (Radix) and Video.Games (Rightside).
2018 has it’s work cut out for it for non coms.
Here is a look at the last 5 years
2017 11 non .com sales made the top 100 (2 new gtlds)
Highest ranking 22
2016 19 non .com sales made the top 100 (8 new gtlds)
Highest ranking 10
2015 9 non .com sales made the top 100 (4 new gtlds)
Highest ranking 23
2014 23 non .com sales made the top 100
Highest ranking 4
2013 18 non .com sales made the top 100
Highest ranking 13

Thankfully I don’t invest in non .com’s
Long live the King of kings – .com 🙂
Nile says
That is not right way to compare you comparing old names with brand new names.
Buy any one word category killer .com cost you way high to buy and then flip it with profit.
Do same buy any good new gtld keyword combo and flip it for profit.
Now compare return on investment.

Nile I appreciate where you are coming from, but most people are not flipping new gtlds on a consistent basis.
2017 was a dismal year for those that invest in those names and that includes me.
It only took $60,000 to make the top 100 in 2017 and you would think when things are new there is more enthusiasm.
And look the year sucked for net, org and major cctlds as well.
