In the Sedo report this week there was a sale that stood out to me, it was the sale of 9107.com for $2,500. I immediately emailed Carolyn at Sedo and checked whois history. The name did change hands and moved to a non Chinese buyer, who I imagine will have plenty of prospective Chinese buyers soon.
9107.com Created on 2002-07-23 – Expires on 2017-07-23 – Updated on 2015-10-22
Here are other 4N.com sales around the same time October 18 – October 22
1865.com 41,000 USD
9727.com 35,000 USD
I did get an email confirmation from Carolyn
You’re not the only one this sparked interest with but you certainly were the quickest 🙂
We can confirm this is in fact correct.
One of the best buys of the year congrats to the buyer.

Hopefully the seller never ever stumbles across industry discussions about this sale. Imagine how your heart would sink to learn this after the fact!

I don’t get it. If you sell a house, car, boat or anything for that matter you always do at least 15 minutes of research before you sell it. If you Google ‘numeric domain name values’ a ton of information comes up. There has to be more to this story.
Joseph Peterson says
If the value of a boat or a car has stayed constant for awhile and you’ve sold a few in the past, then you might feel confident to name a price without bothering to check whether the market price has gone up 10-fold since you blinked.

I get your thinking but the only reason I don’t agree with you is that this domain was used for an office building, 9107 Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills. The owner of the domain had no previous experience as to the value and that is why he should have checked.

@Todd,
Sounds like you may be right. I didn’t research the seller at all.
