It is absolutely amazing the amount of coverage that Taylor Swift has received on registering TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult. There has been coverage from Jezebel who used the headline Aspiring Porn Star Taylor Swift Buys TaylorSwift.porn Domain.
and hundreds more.
The problem with this is it has now drawn attention kind of like the Streisand Effect.
Now TaylorSwiftporn.com is registered, it should be pointed out it was regged and dropped four times before. Xbiz gave a shout out to my writing partner Michael Berkens.
ICM Registry CEO Stuart Lawley, who spoke with CNN last week, revealed the purchases by Swift’s camp, and the story has traveled far and wide.
By mid-morning on Monday, more than 200 media outlets have been beating the drum on news that celebrities like Swift and big brands have been racing to snap up domains in advance of the “sunrise” deadline for .porn and .adult domains.
TaylorSwiftPorn.com was registered under privacy at GoDaddy.com, according to Michael Berkens of TheDomains.com.
It seems “likely that TaylorSwiftPorn.com was registered by someone reading one of those stories in the non-domainer publications like Billboard and TMZ and went ahead and registered the .com which was available to be registered,” Berkens said.
But guess what happened today ? TaylorSwiftPorn.net/.org/.info/.us/.co and .biz were registered, yes even .tv so someone dropped more than just $10 for a registration. You cannot protect your brand from almost infinite choice, and now by bringing attention to one registration in what some are calling smart brand protection, the floodgates are open.
Did Taylor get Taylor-Swift.xxx/porn/adult ? Because they will get registered with all the attention if she doesn’t. Someone else owns TaylorSwift.sexy.
