Daily Sales Recap 1-11-15
Rothwell.com sold for $8,100 on NameJet, the first three results when I search on Google show RothwellKeyword.com so maybe someone will want to trade up to the stand alone name.
There were a few new gtld sales on Flippa, nothing exciting but imo something telling. Poker.Guru closed at $275, now I think if you are pro new gtld this is at least a decent combo, many people I know on my own consider themselves to be a Poker Guru or Expert. Now the name is almost up for renewal and the seller listed the renewal at $260 on Go Daddy. I commend the seller as I have seen many who leave out the premium renewal when trying to sell a domain name. PokerGuru.com is a developed website.

Poker.guru selling for that much is very troubling.
This is a huge indication as poker is a high end keyword, and .guru is a well received extension, the seller lost money, very troubling. I read the writing on the wall.
Brad Mugford says
That’s a pretty bad sign for an extension when a top 5-10 keyword like Poker, which makes sense in the extension, sells for $275.
This is going to be the reality for a lot of people who are facing “premium” renewal prices in a market with virtually no resale activity. It gets to a point where you either double down on your holding costs, hoping a secondary marketing eventually forms, or just cut your losses.

Raymond Hackney says
Right Brad, I think even if you are not high on the new gtlds, Poker.Guru makes sense and is a good combo, the premium pricing is a big deal, when you have to spend close to 35 .com renewals for one name, they become less attractive with no meaningful aftermarket.
Edgar says
The problem is that people are probably afraid of buying a name like poker.guru because pokerguru.com already exists and is developed.
The guy who sold the name was probably an amateur domainer like myself who probably paid $29.99 for it. And he didn’t care to make that percentage. In business if you make 1000% return on an investment, life will be good.
I fell into this business by accident 4 months ago. And now I own 300+ new gtlds and they are all single-word premium domain names. They are all mostly set @1,000% or higher than what I paid and I’m happy!
Raymond Hackney says
The development angle of PokerGuru.com is a part of it imo, I agree with you. Poker.Guru did not cost $29.99 that is the problem it was more like $260, and $260 every year holding and renewing it.
